Kinesiologist / Safety Advisor - CIVEO

The role of Kinesiologist /Safety Advisor is to provide directions and support to the Civeo’s Operations
with development, customization, implementation, and enhancement of workplace musculoskeletal
soft-tissue injuries prevention programs. Also, assist management with client services that address the
physical, psychosocial and behavioral issues related to injury or illness. In addition, the incumbent will
actively participate in outcomes such as data collections, analysis and reporting, continuous quality
improvement, education and training of the Civeo employees. This role is based in the Fort McMurray
region of our operations and reports to the Safety Manager, Lodge Operations. The work schedule is 15 days on 13 days off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate Workplace Safety incidents related to soft-tissue injuries and advise on hazard
  • control measures.
  • Develop and deliver ergonomic services, including assessments and making recommendations.
  • Provide advisory support to leaders and employees on employee wellness, occupational health
  • and safety and work place safety.
  • Lead the development of standard work instructions through engagement, analysis and creating
  • recommendations.
  • Assist internal clients with the identification of emerging occupational health and safety issues;
  • develop action plans to support resolution of these issues and ensure wellness best practices
  • are understood.
  • Facilitate the development and review of Physical Demands Analyses.
  • Develop and organize training on health and safety related topics.
  • Observe and provide coaching on appropriate body mechanics in the workplace.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications/Licenses’/Designations:

  • An undergraduate degree in exercise science (BSc Kin)
  • Candidates with MSc. Physiotherapy or Msc. Occupational Therapy could be considered
  • Member of the Alberta Kinesiology Association
  • Member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists is an asset
  • Must possess a driving abstract that meets or exceeds the company’s criteria.

Experience:

  • 3-6 years related experience Kinesiology.
  • Possess experience in developing on-location workplace solutions to ergonomic issues.
  • Possess experience in development of procedural documents and demonstrate effective
  • written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Experience with return-to-work programs and return to work coordination considered andasset
  • Experience in building and delivering training sessions is an asset.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task.
  • Experience working in and around unionized environments an asset.
  • Possess experience in both office and industrial settings, performing ergonomic risk assessments, physical demands analyses, and basic exercise prescription for the prevention and improvement of occupational or non-occupational injuries
  • Experience with project management, workplace education seminars, job coaching and support on employee wellness and workplace safety would be considered a key asset.
