Job Description/Responsibilities:
ReYu Paralysis Recovery Centre is seeking a passionate and motivated Kinesiologist/Activity-Based Trainer to join our neurorecovery team.
The Activity-Based Trainer works directly with individuals living with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions to deliver individualized, evidence-informed Activity-Based Training and neurorecovery programming.
Key responsibilities include:

Deliver safe, high-quality Activity-Based Training (ABT) and individualized neurorecovery programs.

Complete client assessments, re-evaluations, and progress reviews.

Develop, implement, progress, and adapt programs based on client goals, abilities, and response to training.

Assist with transfers, positioning, gait activities, therapeutic exercise, and specialized rehabilitation equipment.

Complete accurate and timely session documentation and progress reports.

Monitor client safety and appropriately respond to changes in presentation.

Build positive, professional relationships with clients, families, caregivers, and team members.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized training environment.

Participate in team education, case discussions, and ongoing professional development.

Continue developing knowledge of neurological conditions, neuroplasticity, neurorecovery, and evidence-informed practice.
Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Human Kinetics, or a related field.

Current registration with the Alberta Kinesiology Association (AKA) in good standing, or eligibility for registration.

Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid Certification.

Current Heart & Stroke BLS Certification.

Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, exercise prescription, and movement assessment.

Ability to safely perform physically demanding work, including assisting with transfers, positioning, and mobility.

Strong communication, documentation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Professional, reliable, adaptable, and eager to learn.

Experience with neurological conditions or physical disabilities is an asset but not required.

CSCS, CSEP, ACSM, or other relevant certifications are considered an asset.
