This program was designed to provide students and kinesiologists with a vast understanding of the foundational skills and knowledge needed in practice as a Professional Kinesiologist. Kinesiologists can apply their skills in many settings, and we want to show you how!

Kinesiologists are uniquely qualified for a wide range of healthcare roles. You can work in ergonomics, rehabilitation, health promotion, workplace health and safety, chronic disease management, sports performance, and other related fields. This program will help you to navigate the number of continuing education opportunities available in order to make an informed decision that's right for you.

About AKAdemy

1. Complete our “core certification” OR “areas of expertise” courses as listed under “Clinical Kinesiology” and “Community Wellness” course breakdowns. Clinical Kinesiology checklist (PDF), Community Wellness checklist (PDF). 

2. Submit your course checklist to the AKA once you have completed these courses. To submit your checklist please email: coo@albertakinesiology.ca

3. Once accepted, we will send you a PDF certification for you to keep on hand.

Does this certification expire?
These certifications remain active for an individual as long as you maintain a current member with a Provincial Kinesiology Association (ex: AKA, BCAK, etc.). If your membership expires, you will need to renew your membership for your certification to remain active.

Can these courses be offered to groups?
Yes, we are happy to offer our courses to large groups. We offer extensive discounts to post-secondary practicum providers - please email us to inquire: coo@albertakinesiology.ca

Can I substitute other courses?
If you have completed a course that you feel satisfies the scope and content covered in any of our AKAdemy courses, these courses MUST NOT be considered in your application for Professional Kinesiology Membership. 

Note: CEP certifications do not satisfy the depth of knowledge required to attain this certification. Course substitution may be possible in some circumstances. 

How do I substitute a course?
If you wish to have a course appraised for substitution consideration please:

  • Email us a completed course catalogue or a detailed description, including research references from the course content and instructor names, to: coo@albertakinesiology.ca 
  • E-transfer the AKA $42 ($40 + GST) with a note/subject “AKAdemy course audit fee”
  • Upon completion of these two steps, the AKA will follow up with you with a receipt of your audit outlining the verdict. *Keep this on-hand for future use*
